Personal Information
When you create an account or use our service, we may collect:

- Resume content including work history, education, and skills
- Profile information from third-party authentication providers (Replit OAuth)
- Payment information (processed securely through Stripe — we never store card details)
Usage Information
We automatically collect certain information about your use of our service:
- Log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral URL)
- Usage patterns and feature interactions
- Device and browser information
Survey Data
We may present optional post-purchase surveys asking about your job search goals, industry, and experience. Survey responses are used solely to improve our product and content recommendations. Surveys are optional and may unlock additional platform features when completed. We do not share individual survey responses with third parties.
Pixel and Tracking Events
We operate an internal pixel tracking system to measure marketing campaign effectiveness. When you visit a page linked from a HireSpark marketing campaign, we may record:
- A campaign identifier and event type (e.g., page view, click)
- Approximate geographic region derived from your IP address (country level only)
- Browser and device type
- Timestamp of the event
This data is used exclusively for internal analytics. It is not sold to or shared with advertising networks or data brokers. You can opt out of pixel tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser or using a tracker blocker.
AI-Generated Content
HireSpark uses OpenAI's GPT-4o model to power AI writing assistance, resume review, and cover letter generation. When you use these features, portions of your resume content and job-related inputs are sent to OpenAI's API to generate suggestions and analysis. This processing is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use your data to train its models under the current API terms.
AI-generated resume content, bullet points, and cover letter text are provided as suggestions. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content for accuracy before using it in job applications. HireSpark makes no guarantee that AI-generated content is factually accurate or appropriate for your specific situation.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain our resume building and review services
- Generate AI-powered content, recommendations, and resume analyses
- Process one-time download payments securely via Stripe
- Send transactional emails (purchase confirmations, download links) and optional marketing emails
- Measure campaign performance through our internal pixel tracking system
- Improve our service, content, and develop new features
- Ensure security and prevent fraud
Affiliate Program
HireSpark operates an affiliate referral program. When you arrive at our site via an affiliate link (identified by a ?ref= URL parameter), we set a 90-day cookie on your browser to attribute any subsequent purchase to that affiliate. The information we log includes:
- Affiliate slug (the referring partner's identifier)
- Timestamp of the click
- Whether a qualifying purchase was made within 90 days
We do not share your personal details with affiliates. Affiliates only receive aggregated performance data (click counts, conversion counts) through their dashboard. You can opt out of affiliate tracking by clearing cookies or browsing in private/incognito mode.
Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share your information in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third parties who help us operate our service (Stripe for payments, OpenAI for AI features, Resend for email delivery, Replit for hosting)
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

- Consent: When you explicitly agree to sharing
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest (PostgreSQL database encryption)
- Regular security assessments and dependency updates
- Access controls — only authenticated users can access their own data
- Secure hosting on Replit's infrastructure (Neon PostgreSQL)
Data Retention
We retain different categories of data for different periods:
- Account and resume data: Retained for the lifetime of your account. Deleted within 5 business days of an account deletion request.
- Purchase records: Retained for 7 years to comply with financial record-keeping requirements.
- Email communications: Retained for up to 2 years from the last interaction.
- Pixel and campaign tracking events: Retained for up to 12 months, then automatically purged.
- Affiliate click logs: Retained for 90 days (the cookie window), then purged unless associated with a conversion.
- Survey responses: Retained indefinitely in anonymized, aggregated form.
You can request deletion of your account at any time by emailing hello@usehirespark.com.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and update your personal information through your account dashboard
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your resume data in JSON or plain text format
- Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any email
